Aurora left everything on the floor in a do-or-die match last week.
The Lady Huskies had match point in the fourth and fifth sets, but could not convert the final score as Columbus Lakeview rallied to beat Aurora in five, 25-19, 23-25, 21-25, 26-24, 17-15 to win the C1-7 subdistrict tournament.
The loss for Aurora ended the Huskies’ season, missing out on a district final appearance and finished with a 14-19 record.
First-year Aurora coach Andrew Murillo was beaming with pride following the match, knowing the Huskies left everything out there.
“This team showed nothing but heart in this match,” Murillo noted. “These girls showed that they were not the team they started off as this season. They grew in their mental toughness and their ability to play in tough scenarios and rise to the occasion. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
