A smile came across Aurora coach Kyle Peterson’s face Friday night when he heard of the Huskies’ opponent in the Class B semifinals.
Omaha Skutt is coming west.
Aurora will host Omaha Skutt Friday with a trip to Memorial Stadium in the Class B finals on the line starting with a 7 p.m. kick.
“They’re incredibly well coached,” Peterson said of Skutt. “They don’t do a lot of things, but what they do, they do incredibly well.”
The Huskies and SkyHawks will play for the third time in the playoffs Friday night.
Each team has a win over the other in postseason action. In the first matchup, Aurora defeated Skutt 34-21 back in the Class B finals of the 2009 season, capping Aurora’s back-to-back state championships.
The second of those matchups was in the opening round of the 2017 playoffs, where Skutt won on its home field, 23-0. That year, Skutt finished runner-up to York.
Peterson also mentioned that Aurora played at Omaha Skutt in its very first home game during Peterson’s first year as coach.
