For the first time in nearly two years, the Aurora golf team was on the course in varsity play.
The Husky golfers started the 2021 season at the Seward Invite Friday, finishing third as a team with a five-some that lacked varsity experience.
Aurora coach Craig Badura was just elated to be on the course at all and was thrilled with how the team played.
“It was great just to one, be out on the course; two, see the kids compete; and three, see the nerves the kids had before it started,” Badura said. “It’s the real deal when you know they’re a bit nervous. It got a lot quieter as 10 o’clock rolled around. It was fun to be on the course again.”
The lone Aurora golfer with any varsity experience is Ethan Shaw, who finished the event in fourth individually, shooting a pair of 39s for a total of 78.
