Friday night roundup week 9
Aurora and Hampton both closed out the regular season with big wins and now shift focus to the playoffs.
The Huskies welcomed an undefeated Central City squad down past the Platte River and Aurora delivered a physical, controlled run game to hand the Bison its first loss, 27-12.
Ian Jensen was the Husky work horse in the backfield, crossing the 200-yard plateau for the first time this season on the ground while scoring twice, including a dominant 19-play opening drive that took most of the opening quarter.
Aurora's defense came to play, too, picking off three Central City passes to slow down a potent Bison aerial attack. Aurora moves to 6-3 on the season with all six wins coming consecutively and claiming a district championship while Central City falls to 8-1. Both will find out its Class C1 playoff destination Saturday morning.
As for Hampton, the Hawks moved to 7-1 on the season with a 63-0 win over Santee. The Hawks will compete in the Class D6 playoffs for a fourth consecutive season and find out the 16-team field Saturday morning. Follow us for updates on when and where Aurora and Hampton will play to open the playoffs next week.
