Hampton senior Wyatt Dose put it nicely on a twilight night in the small town of purple and gold as the Hawks routed Ansley-Litchfield 73-20 in the program's final regular season home game.
Over 115 former players and coaches returned to Hampton Friday for the occasion, leading the current team onto the field as well as being recognized during intermission.
On the field, the Hawks looked unstoppable, taking a 42-7 halftime lead behind six touchdowns from Landen Rojewski. Hampton (6-1) finishes the regular season next week at Santee.
Aurora was on the road Friday and collected its fifth consecutive win, downing Milford 49-14. With a 28-14 halftime lead, the Huskies immediately got a stop to start the third before scoring again to blow the game open and ended up pitching a second half shutout, marking 11 of the last 13 quarters without points. Aurora (5-3) finishes the regular season next week with a rivalry matchup against undefeated Central City at home.
High Plains and Giltner each rounded out their seasons with losses to Deshler and Lawrence-Nelson, respectively. HPC finishes the year 3-5 while Giltner was 1-7.
