Nebraska tight end and co-captain Austin Allen got quite the surprise after Friday's practice ahead of the Huskers' contest with Michigan.
Allen was honored as the recipient of the Brook Berringer Memorial Scholarship, displaying many of the same qualities inside and outside the community as Berringer did.
Both the Berringer and Allen family were on the field prior to the game as part of the ceremony. Allen's parents, Andy and Renae, received a plaque from Berringer's mother, Jan.
Allen had two receptions for 59 yards, including a 46-yard touchdown reception during Nebraska's 32-29 loss to Michigan Saturday night.
