With a third consecutive trip to the state finals on the line, the last obstacle in Aurora’s path is a familiar foe.
The Huskies will host Boone Central Friday night in the Class C1 semifinals in the top half of the bracket with Pierce hosting Adams Central in the other semifinal.
Aurora and Boone Central played once already this season with the Huskies rolling to a 34-13 win in week two.
Aurora coach Kyle Peterson is excited for the rematch, noting a ton of improvement from the Boone Central squad.
“They’re a fantastic defensive team,” Peterson said of Boone Central. “Ashland-Greenwood is a bit beat up at the end of the year, but us as coaches felt like Boone was probably the better team. We have familiarity, but haven’t played them in a long time. They’re a different team now, but so are we.”
