Aurora Pinnacle Bank Seniors set for alumni game

Body

The Aurora Pinnacle Bank Seniors team never rolled over or quit despite what the scoreboard showed.
It was a week of growing pains for the Aurora Pinnacle Bank Post 42 Seniors team, losing to Wood River at home 17-8 Sunday, back-to-back losses in a doubleheader to Shelton/Gibbon, 12-0 and 10-1 June 16 right after an 8-5 loss to Grand Island June 15.
Even in losses, Aurora coach Jeremy Burgener saw the fight in his guys and knows that is something to build on as the season hits the midway point.
“This team doesn’t always look like they’ll go into a battle, but they’re always ready for one,” Burgener said. “They don’t lay down. We just need to be more consistent.”
In the loss to Wood River at Mitchell Field Sunday, Wood River pushed across five runs in the top of the first before Aurora even came up to bat.
The Pinnacle Bank Seniors responded in the bottom half of the first as Cayden Phillips singled and eventually scored on a Wood River error.
