Aurora ends season at districts
The Aurora softball team was unable to find the magic upset Thursday, losing a 12-2 game to Norris in the B-7 district to end its season.
The Lady Huskies began Thursday's play in Norris with an offensive frenzy against Adams Central, defeating the Patriots 12-0 thanks in large part to RBIs from four different players, including Ashlyn Kottwitz, Adrianna Brei, Violet Carstensen and Emely Gonzalez.
Aurora capped off the third inning with six runs and did so on just one hit as the Huskies took advantage of heads-up baserunning, like Vivi Fahrnbruch going around the horn on the same sequence on a pop fly ruled a defensive error.
The offensive run carried over into the opening inning against Norris when Londyn Teahon drove in a run on a sacrifice fly before another RBI single from Carstensen, making it 2-0.
From there, though, Norris scored 12 unanswered over the next four frames, including a pair of three-run homers.
Aurora ends its season with a 13-13 record and bids farewell to three seniors, Ashlyn Kottwitz, Adrianna Brei and Emely Gonzalez. The senior trio combined for 75 hits on the season as well as 42 RBIs and 58 runs scored.
