Ho! Ho! Ho and pass the turkey!
It’s that time once again when I get to do my thing, when I get to hand out all sorts of fun presents to all of the nice (and a few naughty) girls and boys who made my very special list this year. It wasn’t easy, but I managed to get my shopping done just in time:
To Austin Allen, good health and a trip to New York City in April.
To Cam Jurgens, a new home in Dallas.
To Urban Meyer, a moving truck and some anger management classes.
To Deion Sanders, a recruiter of the year award.
To Scott Frost, some ‘Luck of the Irish’ next fall.
To Alante Brown, a breakout season in ‘22.
To Lexi Rodriquez, lots of NIL deals...can you dig it?
To Madi Kubik, a new roommate who happens to be her sister.
To Alonzo Verge, a lot (and I mean a lot) less dribbling.
To the NCAA Volleyball Tournament committee, a schedule that doesn’t include 9 p.m. starts.
To Anna Smrek, less height.
To the Hawaii football team, a bowl destination other than Honolulu.
To Adrian Martinez, a new purple people-eaters T-shirt.
To Aaron Rodgers, a vaccination card.
To the Chiefs and Cowboys, surfing lessons while they’re both in California for the big game on Feb. 13.
To Steph Curry, a greatest shooter in the world award.
To Nick Saban, PJ Fleck and Jim Harbaugh, one large lump of coal that they’ll have to divide equally among them.
To Fred Hoiberg, a set offense.
To Amy Williams, a Top 25 ranking.
To John Cook, a grandpa of the year award....and a $50,000 bonus.
To Cincinnati, a big upset win over the Tide.
To Kentucky, a 30-point win over Iowa.
To Connor Culp, a shot of confidence, Yoga relaxation techniques and a chance with a NFL team.
To Micah Parsons, a defensive player of the year award.
To new Husker signee Decoldest Crawford, a warm fuzzy pair of slippers.
To Mike Krzyzewski, a new fishing pole and very soft rocking chair.
To Campbell, Florida State, Texas and Pittsburgh, participation ribbons.
To Russ Rose, fewer Penn State volleyball players in the portal.
To Kayla Caffey, one more year in a Husker uniform. Please and thank you!
To the Boerkircher brothers, lots more playing time.
To Turner Corcoran and Bryce Benhart, consistency.
To Travis Vokolek and Thomas Fidone, a quarterback who can get them the ball.
To Teddy Prochazka and Gabe Ervin, full recoveries.
To Garrett Nelson, a little more enthusiasm.
To Mickey Joseph, continued success on the recruiting trail and a map of the best restaurants in Lincoln.
To me, Final 4 volleyball tickets in Omaha next December.
And finally to Cindy, a new wedding ring (if your swollen finger ever subsides), retirement, and a basket full of Golden Retriever puppies. Get ready dear.
Merry Christmas!
