Tammy Case
Tammy Kay Case, the daughter of Don and Cleonne (Jones) Lightwine, was born in Missouri Valley, Iowa, on January 14, 1962, and passed away in Fremont, on June 6, 2025, at the age of 63 after a courageous 6-year battle with breast cancer.
Tammy graduated from Aurora High School before continuing her education at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. She graduated with honors from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a degree in education and took a teaching position at Oakland-Craig Public Schools. She would go on to teach at Oakland-Craig for the next 36 years, teaching second grade most of her tenure. Tammy’s love for her students, outgoing personality and teaching styles made her a favorite/memorable teacher for generations of students. Tammy was involved in numerous committees within the school, most infamously the FAC (Friday Afternoon Club.)
Tammy was united in marriage to Gary Case on October 29, 1988, at Aurora.
They would continue to live in Oakland and raise two boys. Tammy absolutely adored becoming a grandmother (Ammy Tammy) and spoiled her granddaughters in every way she could.
Tammy enjoyed making snacks, entertaining, gambling and quick getaways to Okoboji.
You could always find Tammy with a cold Coors Light.
She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law Norman Case, and grandbaby, Harper Kay.
Tammy is survived by her husband, Gary of Oakland: mother-in-law, Janice Case of Oakland; her boys, Tanner (Kylee) and Teigan (Kaley) of Oakland; granddaughters, Kynleigh, Kwynn, Cooper and Hattie; siblings, Shelly (Craig) Weedin of Aurora and Mark (Beth) Lightwine of Geneva; and all her nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
The funeral service was held Monday, June 9, 2025 at 2 p.m., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
The visitation was held Sunday, June 8 from 3-5 p.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery.
