Michael Wengler
Michael Wengler, age 62, of Aurora, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024, at his home in Aurora.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, at the Evangelical Free Church in Aurora. Pastor Jim Garfield will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Condolences may be sent to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. The family request everyone attending the services to wear Husker Red to send him off in a sea of red as Mike held Husker sports near and dear to his heart.
Michael Delbert Wengler, the son of Edward and Betty Louise (Chollar) Wengler, was born in Aurora, on February 16, 1962 and passed away on November 8, 2024, at the age of 62.
Mike grew up in Aurora where he graduated from Aurora High School in 1981. Following high school he helped build the IAMS building and later worked in production there for 26 years. Mike also worked at Casey’s General Store.
Mike had four children, Anthony, Brandon, Curtus and Dawnetta. On November 12, 2005, Mike was united in marriage to Kala Nielsen and he gained an additional daughter Megan Sparks.
Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, any sports, painting and watching Mike and Molly. He attended the Evangelical Free Church in Aurora.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Edward Wengler, Jr. and sister, Debbie (Larry) Sweet.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Kala of Aurora; five children, Anthony (Stephanie) Wengler of Seward, Brandon (MiKayla) Wengler of Grand Island, Curtus Wengler of Grand Island, Dawnetta (Jared) Heinz of Tampa, FL and Megan (Robbie) Sweet of Aurora; 15 grandchildren, Jordan, Wesley, Jackson and Josslin Wengler, Kinzley and Killian Wengler, Kamille, Elijah, Asher, Ariyah, Zion and Harper Heinz, Caryn Sparks, Hailee and Elizabeth Sweet. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Frank Wengler of Aurora, Sandra (Noel) Johnson of Escondido, CA, Pauline Bures of Aurora, Paul (Joellen) Wengler of Crossett, AR, Marsha (Marvin) Anderson of Grand Island and Barbara Anderson of Grand Island, many nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.
