Michael “Mike” Alan Yoder, 62, of Henderson, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at his home.  Mike enjoyed his last days with family and friends.
Mike, the son of Merlin and Merna (Marquart) Yoder was born in Lincoln, on May 4, 1960. Mike grew up in Aurora, where he graduated from Aurora High School in 1978.  Following high school, Mike joined the US Marine Corps serving 6 years as a financial management resource analyst (FMRA) at Cecil Field Naval Air Station, Florida; Parris Island, SC; and Camp Lejeune, NC.  Following his USMC service, Mike Joined the US Army as a Finance Non-Commissioned Officer serving in Bamberg, Germany and Fort Riley, Kansas.  Mike served 12 years in the Nebraska National Guard culminating with a rank of Staff Sergeant.  Additionally, Mike worked for Jim’s Food, Nebraska & Kansas Lottery, Heartland School, the Henderson/Aurora Coop, and managed the Henderson Fuel Stop. Mike was also a Letter Carrier with the United States’ Postal Service.
In 1991, Mike married his wife Bridget on October 31. Together they raised their family of Thomas, Jeremiah, and Jennifer. Mike greatly enjoyed following his children’s school activities and careers, as well as being a grandfather to 20 grandchildren
For several years Mike was proud to be part of the Henderson City Council serving as the Henderson Mayor.  He really enjoyed supporting the civic activities and projects to improve the community.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Bridget of Henderson; two sons, Thomas (Randi) Crosby of Junction City, Kansas, Jeremiah (Ashley) Crosby of LaMars, IA, and Jennifer (Brett) Melton Belleville, Kansas; stepson Geoffrey (Jen) Rose of England; stepdaughter Casandra (David) King, also of England; his mother Merna Yoder of Aurora; and brother Monte (Kelly) Yoder of Whitestown, IN.
Mike is preceded in death by his father and unborn infant twins.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Living Hope Church in Henderson with the Reverend Luke Haidle officiating. Private family inurnment at a later date. No viewing or visitation. Cremation. Memorials may be directed to his family for later designation. Mike’s request that family and friends wear bright colors at his service. No black attire please.
