JoAnn M. Landenberger, age 86, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Memorial Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 2 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora.  Pastor Rudy Flores will officiate, assisted by her son, Randy Landenberger (Deacon of the Catholic Church.)  Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. JoAnn M. Landenberger was born November 5, 1935 in Walker Township Platte County (Newman Grove), to Ernest E. and Myrna Carrie (Christensen) Christensen and passed away in Aurora, on June 28, 2022, at the age of 86.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.  JoAnn graduated from Columbus High School. JoAnn was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora since 1973.
On June 6, 1954, she was united in marriage to George Landenberger in Columbus.  They lived in Columbus, Grand Island and moved to Aurora in 1973.  Four children were born to this union: Jody, Barb, Randy and Rick.
JoAnn was a stay-at-home mother and babysat in her home until her youngest child was in 9th grade when she started at the Aurora Elementary Cafeteria.  She worked there for 37 years and was fondly referred to as “The Lunch Lady” by children of all ages.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband, George Landenberger, parents Ernest and Carrie Christensen; siblings, Kenneth Christensen in infancy, Fern Olander, Ramona Hoegerl, Norma Henrickson, Ernest Christensen, Jr., Donald Christensen, Robert Lee Christensen and Lyle Christensen.
JoAnn is survived by her children, Jody Golden, Barb (Jim) Wonch, all of Aurora, Randy (Kami) Landenberger and Rick (Amanda) Landenberger, all of Omaha; 9 grandchildren, Brandon (Rachel) Zimmermann, Sara (Dan) Straight, Chad (Kenji) Wonch, Lynsey Golden (Dan Wirick), Tyler (Grace Michaels), Lee (Kelsey) and Lane Landenberger, Quinn and Brynn Landenberger; 11 great-grandchildren, Logan, Carson and Ethan Zimmermann, Austin, Tanner and Seth Wonch, Evan Golden and Lily Schmidt, Zepplin, Jagger and Frankie Landenberger and two great-great-granddaughters, Paizlee Wonch and Lennix Wonch.  She is also survived by her sister, Lois Maly and brother, Kendall (Linda) Christensen and many other relatives and friends.
