Jim Salmon, age 81, of Aurora, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 20 at the Presbyterian U.C.C.  Rev. Penny Schulz and Barb Johnson will officiate.  Inurnment will be at a later date.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. The family invites you to wear casual dress to the services. Memorials may be made to the Hamilton Community Foundation to create a scholarship for a student wanting to study mechanics and automotive.  Condolences e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
James Rollo Salmon, the son of Marion and Thelma (Lewis) Salmon was born on the farm near Stockham, on October 4, 1939 and passed away at Aurora, on April 15, 2021, at the age of 81.
Jim grew up on a farm near Stockham and graduated from Aurora High School.
Jim married Martha Newman on October 6, 1957.  They lived in Aurora where they raised their children: Mike, Shelly and Darcie.  Jim worked as a mechanic for the Vetter Brothers for many years, along with farming.  Jim opened his own shop where he was a mechanic and ran a wrecker service before retiring.
Jim was a member of REACT, the Aurora Jaycees, 4-H and Presbyterian U.C.C. He also enjoyed woodworking, going bowling and dirt track racing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Tanner Salmon, mother-in-law and father-in-law, and brothers-in-law, Eddie Newman and Ron Obermier.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Martha of Aurora; three children, Mike (Deb) Salmon, Shelly (Ray) Maul, all of Aurora and Darcie (Pat) Taggart of Jefferson, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Amber Salmon of Aurora, Jessica Taggart of Boone, Iowa, Greg Maul of Aurora, Wyatt Taggart of Jefferson, Iowa and Sarah Maul of Omaha; two great-grandchildren, Kobe Bonifas and Tristan Salmon, both of Aurora; six siblings, Kathryn Obermier of Aurora, Ginger (Dick) Rice of Chapman, Doug (Peg) Salmon of Omaha, Roger (Judy) Salmon of Aurora, Becky (Kelly) Kliewer and Nancy (Eric) Lohrmeyer, all of Aurora; brother-in-law, Dan (Julie) Newman of Aurora; sister-in-law, Ina Rae (Ed) Krautsdorfer of Louisiana and many cousins, nieces and nephews and good friends.
