Francine McHargue

Francine McHargue, 79, of Grand Island, formerly of Marquette, passed away at home on Sunday October 15, 2023, with her loving family by her side. Celebration of Life services will be held at 11 a.m Friday, October 20, at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Pastor Mark Hartley officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 19, at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City.  Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.  There will be a luncheon following the burial at Solt-Wagner Community Room.

Francine was born April 18, 1944, in Omaha to William and Gertrude (Thomas) Winchester.
Francine graduated from Elkhorn High School in 1962.  She then met and married Neil Meiner and they raised 5 children in the Upland area.  Francine married the love of her life, David McHargue, on April 9, 1988.  Between the two of them they had seven children:  Marsha (Lonnie) Granger of Minden, Michael Meiner of Franklin; Maurine (Monte) Schoenstein of Grand Island,; Kevin (Clover) McHargue of Prairie City, Iowa; Melissa (Jonathon) Elliott of Lapeer, Michigan; Matthew (Katherine) Meiner of Walnut Grove, Minnesota; and Becky (Nicholas) Lesiak of Grand Island.
Francine worked for various businesses through the years and enjoyed socializing with everyone.  She was a past member of the United Presbyterian Church, Marquette Volunteer Fire Department, Marquette FFA, and American Legion Post 6.  She loved spending time at the lake, playing pool, bowling, and traveling.  Above all, she loved spending time spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by their seven children; her brothers Wayne (Patty) Winchester, Dale (Sandra) Winchester, Roy (Karen) Winchester and sister Judy (Richard) Bailey; her brother-in-law Jim (LouAnn) McHarque; 20 grandchildren: Christin, Jordan, Skylar, Thomas, Robert, Emma, Deanna, Alex, Elizabeth, Cooper, Benjamin, Rebecca, William, Emerson, Abrahan, Jemimah, Nolan, Meredith, Victoria, and Chester; four great-grandchildren: Bryson, Brayann, Briella and Banks and one on the way; many cousins and close friends.
Francine is preceded in death by her parents, William and Gertrude Winchester and her husband David McHargue.
