David Dieckmann, 74, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Douglas Care Center in Douglas, Wyoming.  Inurnment will be at the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Services, which will be conducted by Pastor Matthew Roberts of Calvary Baptist Church, are pending.
David Alan Dieckmann was born on Thursday, Sept. 26, 1946 in Aurora, the son of Albert Arthur and Ruby Inez (Pickinpaugh) Dieckmann.  His early years were spent on a farm just east of Giltner, where he attended elementary school into the fourth grade.  The family then moved to a farm southwest of Aurora, and he attended the public school there, graduating from Aurora High School in 1964.  Following high school, he went to Southeast Community College in Milford, graduating in 1966 with a degree in building construction technology.  He joined the National Guard after graduation, serving six years with the unit in Douglas, Wyoming.
It was in Douglas that he met his future wife, Rose Jane Sullivan.  Dave and Rose were married on Jan. 20, 1969 in Douglas.  They adopted their daughter, Dawn, in 1972.  Rose preceded him in death on Dec. 1, 1974.
From an early age Dave knew he wanted to be in construction, and his entire working career was spent in that field.  He worked for Mark Shaneyfelt for a few years in Aurora, before moving permanently to Douglas so Rose could be closer to her family.  He eventually owned his own business, Dieckmann Construction, and worked with Don Lampert for a number of years.  He had the privilege of either building, or being involved in the construction of a number of homes in the Douglas area.
Following his conversion to Christ, Dave joined and was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Douglas, serving in a number of capacities over the years.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, and tried golf for a while.  He was an avid sports fan particularly following the Nebraska Cornhuskers, as well as the Denver Broncos and Rockies and his favorite, the Boston Red Sox.  When asked for an impression of Dave the general consensus was that “He was such a nice guy.”
In addition to his wife, Rose, Dave was preceded in death by his father, Albert, on May 23, 1996; his mother, Ruby, on August 2, 2016; and a half-brother, M. LaRue Dieckmann.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Dawn Miller of Douglas; granddaughter, Lauren Ullery of Douglas; sister, D. Dianne (Mike) Nickolaus of South Sioux City; and brothers, Arthur (Ursula) Dieckmann of Lincoln and Robert (Maureen) Dieckmann of Aurora; as well as a number of nephews and nieces.
Memorials may be directed to the Douglas Care Center, 1108 Birch Street, Douglas, Wyoming 82633.
