Dave Schwartz

Dave Schwartz, age 62, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023, due to an accident.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 21 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Rev. Mark Seiker will officiate.   Interment will be in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery.   Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1420 9th Street in Aurora.  The Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. at the church. The funeral service will be livestreamed through Zoom Meeting ID 6297345912, Passcode Schw2023. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be determined at a later date. David James Schwartz, the son of Keith Leo and Delilah Mae (Klein) Schwartz was born on December 19, 1960 in Norfolk, and passed away on October 17, 2023 in Hamilton County, at the age of 62.
Dave grew up in Wayne and graduated from Wayne High School in 1979.   While in high school he enjoyed playing baseball. He also participated in musicals, one in which he played the role as tin man. You might be surprised to know he had a very nice voice! Dave spent his entire career with the Nebraska Department of Transportation (formerly known as the Nebr. Dept. of Roads).   He worked his way up to supervisor.   Over his career he worked for them beginning in Wayne, then Tekamah, Valentine, Wayne and Aurora.  For the last 30+ years Aurora has been his home.
He was united in marriage to Terri Jones in July 1989.   To this union they had two children: Matt and Shelbi.
On October 19, 2012 Dave married Liz (Kube) Kohout. They had much in common and shared their love of the outdoors on many excursions. 
Dave loved the outdoors. He was very passionate about hunting and fishing.  He spent any available time hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling to enjoy the great outdoors.  He loved watching all sports, specifically the Steelers and baseball.
Dave was a loving father and grandfather.  He is loved by many friends, nieces, nephews, and siblings.  Nothing brought a smile to his face like his grandson AKA “Griffster”, and he was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his second grandson.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Bryan Denklau and step-father Don Goeden.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Liz of Aurora; his son, Matt Schwartz of Lincoln; his daughter, Shelbi (Colby) Bates of Omaha; grandson, Griffin and in 4 weeks another grandson; his step-sons Cole of Omaha and Alex of Columbus, Ohio;  6 siblings, Barb (John) Roberts, Bill (Judy) Schwartz, Carla (Tim) Ryan, Sue Denklau, Mary (Bryan) Heithold, Todd (Sheryl) Schwartz; step-brothers, John (Jan) Goeden and Jerry Goeden, sister-in-law Amy Goeden, numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and hunting and fishing buddies.
