Food pantry appreciates community support

Dear Editor:
It has always been clear to me that the people of Hamilton County are kind and caring. This fact has become even clearer in the past few weeks here at the Hamilton County Food Pantry. The generosity of the Hamilton County community has been overwhelming.
About three weeks ago the Aurora News-Register featured a story concerning the empty shelves at the pantry. Since that story ran, contributions from local communities, school groups, churches, charitable foundations, and individuals have been outstanding. Our shelves have gone from nearly empty to full. Cash contributions have enabled the pantry to buy products that we don’t have on our shelves.
Last Saturday, the Hamilton County Food Pantry hosted our annual holiday distribution. Those in need are gifted all the ingredients for a holiday feast with their loved ones. Through the financial support of our county, the pantry was able to continue this long-standing tradition of helping those in need in the county.
The Board of Directors of the Hamilton County Food Pantry would like to express their thanks and gratitude for all those in our area that made this possible. A special thanks goes to the Aurora News-Register for helping highlight the issue of food insecurity here in Hamilton County.
