Dr. Patrick Madden
Dr. Patrick Madden, age 92, passed away September 26, 2025, in Mesa, AZ.
Patrick was the fifth child of Walter and Evangeline (Beacom) Madden, born on February 19, 1933, in Pierce, South Dakota. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, in 1951 and then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1955. While at the university, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army artillery. Before starting medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, he transferred his Army commission to the Navy to serve as a Naval flight surgeon. After graduating from medical school in 1960, he served with an anti-submarine air group aboard the USS Essex in the Cuban Missile Crisis.
In 1953, Pat married Karen Broady, and together they had four children: Mike, John, Stacia, and Charles.
Dr. Madden moved to Aurora in 1965, where he practiced family medicine. He married Alice Mason in 1970 and moved to Littleton, Colorado, in 1973, where he continued to practice medicine until his retirement in 2006. Pat and Alice spent winters as “snowbirds” in Arizona until they moved to Mesa, Arizona, full-time in 2006.
Dr. Madden was known for his compassionate nature; he was a great listener and had the best laugh. He enjoyed golfing, scuba diving, hunting, and traveling, particularly to Mexico. In his retirement years, he found joy in Bible study groups and was a master of crossword puzzles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, his wife Alice Madden, his son Charles Madden, his granddaughter Liza Madden Bratton, and brother-in-law Rollie Carter.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Mike (Teresa) Madden of Aurora, John (Mona) Madden of Parker, CO, and Stacia Madden of Mesa, AZ; his grandchildren: Shanna Hunter, Shelley Carlstrom, Pete Madden, Scott Madden, Jessica Madden, Patrick Madden, and Tyler Madden; along with 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
