The purpose of conducting a joint public hearing is to obtain public input on property tax increases proposed by the subdivisions:

Said meeting is open to the public. District Court is located on the second floor, our Courthouse has an elevator that can be accessed from the east side of the Courthouse parking lot.   Accommodations for the disabled are available upon request. Council minutes
September 8, 2026
A duly advertised meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of Aurora, Nebraska was convened in open and public session at 7:30 p.m. on September 8, 2026 at the City Hall Present were Councilors: Paul Lackore, Todd Jensen, Dick Phillips, Mark Dunn and Esther Bergen.  Mayor Marlin Seeman conducted the meeting.  City Officials present were City Administrator Adam Darbro, City Attorney Ross Luzum, Chief of Police Paul Graham, Public Works Director Jeremy Cattau and Clerk/Treasurer Barbra Mikkelsen.
Approved: the minutes from the August 25, 2026, meeting.
Approved the Clerk/Treasurer and Expenditure Reports for month ending August 31, 2026.
Allowed claims for month and approved checks drawn on various funds for payment of same.
Approved proposed pay scale for 2026-2027.  
7:30 P.M. PUBLIC HEARING: to hear public comments regarding amending Ordinance No. 1110, the Zoning Ordinance to the City of Aurora, Nebraska to amend Article 4, Section 421, Use Regulation Matrix, Line Item 176. The proposed amendment will allow for Retail/Wholesale sale of parts, accessories, or tires as a conditional use withing the C-Central Business District. 
Motion was made seconded and adopted to suspend the statutory three reading rule and to adopt Ordinance No. 1240  allow for Retail/Wholesale sale of parts, accessories, or tires as a conditional use withing the C-Central Business District. 
It was determined that to pass, for purposes of the expenditure of funds, the motion to approve the pay scale for 2026-2027 would need a majority of those elected to the Council. As a result, a new motion was made and seconded to approve the proposed pay scale for 2026-2027, the motion carried.
City Administrator Darbro held a discussion on the budget.
A motion made to use the real growth only option to calculate the property tax request failed.
