Vaughn Eugene Berck, the son of Vern and Virginia (Torell) Berck was born at Aurora, on June 18, 1939 and passed away at Stromsburg, on September 24, 2024 at the age of 85.
Vaughn grew up in Nebraska on farms in Hamilton and Polk counties.   He was the oldest of 5 kids and liked hunting, football and track.   Vaughn graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1957 and joined the Air Force where he served as a radio mechanic/operator.   Serving in the military gave him the opportunity to indulge in travel.   He reminisced of time spent at the bases of Newfoundland, Guam and Grand Forks.   Vaughn was extremely humble about his time in the military, but very proud of his service to his country.
After the military, Vaughn worked for Lockheed Martin in California as an electronics technician.   When the job ended, he returned to Nebraska to farm and work as an electrician until he met Beverly on a blind date in 1963.
Vaughn married Beverly Bristol on August 22, 1965 and lived in Hampton where he joined Bev’s family at Bristol Farms Inc.   He worked alongside Richard Bristol and Earl Jensen for the rest of his life.   Vaughn served on the board of the Central Nebraska Pork Producers Association, was involved in 4-H, and was an active member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, including serving as a videographer for many years.
Vaughn enjoyed getting together with friends to socialize.  He could talk to anyone.  In addition to working side by side with Bev and in raising a family and farming, Vaughn spent his free time doing anything outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing, camping, boating or taking a Sunday drive in his latest muscle car.   Whatever he did, he did with his wife and children by his side.
Vaughn taught by example and demonstrated patience, respect of others, and enjoying your work.   Through his daily life, and together with Bev, he lived and displayed humor, devotion, and an unquestionable love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Virginia Berck; sister, Betty (Larry) Lind and sister-in-law, Jan Berck.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Beverly Berck of Hampton; three children, Michael (Jodi) Berck of Omaha, Allen (Jean) Berck of Omaha and Jenni Berck of Hampton; 3 grandchildren, Cassidy, Erin and Joel Berck; siblings, Burdette (Delores) Berck, Twyla (Richard) Huges and Nola (Monty) Henkel and other family members and friends.
