Elaine married William Carter in 1953 and together they had five children.

Elaine was employed as a bank teller at Fillmore County Bank in Geneva, and Farmers State Bank in Aurora. She then became clerk for the City of Aurora and retired from the city in 1996. She then worked part-time for Carol Thomas at Thomas Realty.
Through many trials and tribulations Elaine remained steadfast and positive. She loved and protected her children to the best of her ability. She was sassy and ornery and loved those around her.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, James and Laura, brother James, husband Wentz.
Those left to cherish Elaine are her children: William (Cindy) Carter, Deborah Carter, Cheryl (Timothy) Higgins, Raymond (Tracy) Carter, Laura (David) Rodgers; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; beloved brothers Edward and John, and sister Mary, as well as many friends and caregivers.
The family is deeply appreciative to all the staff at East Park Villa where Elaine lived for fourteen years, and whom she considered family. Also thanks to the staff at Memorial Community Care.
Aurora is so fortunate to have these excellent facilities, and those who lovingly take care of others.
