Jean Anne Schuster

Body

Jean Anne Schuster, 77, of Phillips, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at CHI Health - St Francis.  A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 9 at 10 a.m. at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, with burial immediately following at the Phillips Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 8 from 5-7 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Jean was born on January 23, 1946 in York, to Ralph and A. Pauline (Byrnes) Sheeran. While still very young the family moved to Amarillo, TX, where Jean received her education.  After high school, Jean attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where she earned a degree in education.
On December 23, 1967, Jean was united in marriage to William Schuster.  After Bill left the military, the couple returned to the family farm near Phillips, where they raised their two children, Scott and Julie.
Jean was a life-long learner and a dedicated teacher. She spent over thirty years as a preschool and elementary teacher in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Grand Island, and Giltner. Jean had a passion for educating children and instilling in them the value of being a part of the solution rather than the problem. She was known for her kind and caring nature, and she touched the lives of many students throughout her career.
Outside of her profession, Jean had a vibrant personality and a zest for life. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family, attending Husker football games, and spending quality time with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. Jean also time spent with the 3 Amigos (Susan Dvorak, Linda Ohlson, and Jean), the Girls Night Out group (aka the Crockpots), and her fellow teachers. She loved playing games and cards, which always brought joy and laughter to family gatherings.  Jean was also a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church where she taught Sunday school and conformation classes.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Bill; children, Scott (Dara) Schuster of Phillips, Julie (Ryan) Samuelson of Hastings; six grandchildren, Caden (Felicia), Jaylee, and Kasey Schuster, and Morgan, Breck (Mari), and Irelyn Samuelson; brother, David (Ann) Sheeran; sisters by choice, Linda Ohlson and Susan Dvorak; sister-in-law, Anne Marie Sheeran.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Pauline; brother, Jim Sheeran; and several much-loved dogs.
In memory of Jean, memorials are suggested to the Rock Steady Boxing group (Parkinsons treatment) at the YMCA in Grand Island, or the Grand Island and Aurora Adopt-A-Pet.
