Janis Arnold

Janis Arnold, age 88, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, September 29 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Aurora United Methodist Church. Janis Leona Arnold, the daughter of Leon Nelson and Frances Helen (George) Harter was born at Stockham, on April 4, 1935 and passed away at Aurora, on September 26, 2023 at the age of 88.  
Janis grew up on a farm near Stockham and graduated from Aurora High School in 1953.   Janis married Deryl Arnold on June 11, 1959 at Aurora.   The couple started farming in 1960 purchasing their own farm in 1975.   They had three children: Richard Dean, Robert Eugene and Mary Kathryn.  Janis kept busy being involved in the farm operations and their seed corn business.
Janis was an active member of her church of the United Methodist Church in Aurora where she was past secretary of the Women’s Society and Sunday School teacher.   Janis enjoyed being a part of the Neighborhood Birthday Club and her garden, where she was able to give away fresh vegetables.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Rich and a sister at infancy.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Robert (Sue) Arnold of Beaver Crossing and Mary (Kevin) O’Rourke of Hastings; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon (Bob) Nunnenkamp of Aurora and Kenneth (Dorothy) Harter of Edna, Texas and several nieces, nephews as well as other family members and friends.
