Wallace 'Wally' Burrows
“Wally,” Wallace Burrows, 90, of Grand Island, formerly or rural Giltner, died peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the Country House in Grand Island.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1 at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. Daniel Naranjo will officiate. The service will be livestreamed on Wally’s obituary page at www.giallfaiths.com. A private family graveside service will be in the Giltner Cemetery and a reception will follow at the Giltner Community Center.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be determined later.
Wally was born on August 1, 1931 in Doniphan, the son of William (Reuel) and Ethel (Lindgren) Burrows. He was raised on a family farm near Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School with the class of 1949. He entered the United States Army in April of 1952 and was honorably discharged in March 1954. He was stationed in Fulda, Germany as a desk clerk during the Korean War. After arriving home, Wally went into farming with his father, retiring in 2001.
On November 29, 1959 Wally was united in marriage to Marjorie Macomber at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. They farmed near Giltner for 57 years.
His memberships included Trinity United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, the outdoors, and traveling with the camper and on bus tours. He and Marge visited many places including Hawaii and Alaska. Wally, with Marge as his escort, were grateful to have been on a Hall County Hero Flight to Washington D.C. Wally loved his family and time spent with grandkids.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Marge; children, Larry (Deb) Burrows of Dorchester, Darrell (Carol) Burrows of Columbus, Robert (Traci) Burrows of Wayne, and Barry (Christy) Burrows of Grand Island; grandchildren, Ashlee Burrows, Lacey (Dan) Lake, Darren (Katie) Burrows, Erin (Zach) Reeves, Joe Burrows, Nate Burrows, Benjamin (Gunnar) Burrows, Brody Burrows, and Carly Burrows; great-grandchildren Easton Lake and Lawson Reeves; step-grandchildren Jamie Church, Kacee (Jacob) Anderson, Britta (Tyler) Fahrnbruch, and Nixon Nerud; sister, Shirley Suck of Grand Island and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Marjorie Ready, Wylda Sauer, and Velma Hackman.
