Monty James Maw, 73, died Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.  Celebration of Life Services will be Monday, February 21, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Community Room (1515 17th Street) with Pastor Jim Garfield officiating.  Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Community Room.
Monty was born on September 25, 1948 to Eugene T. and Evelyn E. (Ott) Maw in Aurora.  He grew up in the Aurora area and attended Grand Island Senior High. He married the “love of his life”, Jeanne M. Selander on March 30, 1966 in St. Paul.  Monty worked many jobs and owned multiple businesses at the time of his death.  He was owner and operator of his trucking company, D&M Trucking.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, picnics, barbecues, and spending time at “The Ranch”.  His greatest joy was attending his granchildren’s sporting events and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne of Aurora; daughters Michelle Geiler of Aurora; Melissa (Brett) McDonald of Phillips; Morgan (Brian) Prochaska of Rising City; special family Eric Joseph of Hampton; and Jann Geiler of Milford; siblings Tom (Peggy) Maw; Vicki Collingham; Billie (Doug) Monson; Rhonda (Larry) Johnson; all of Aurora;  12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren;  brother-in-law Alan (Connie) Selander of Georgia; sister-in-laws Linda (Wes) Reeves of Oklahoma and Gail (Chad) Nez of New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Linda Cole; brother-in-law Larry Collingham.
