Asher brings winning pedigree to Husky basketball
Former St. Cecilia coach excited for opportunity in Aurora
Aurora’s newest basketball coach is used to winning at the highest level. So are his players.
It’s the drive from each side that Kevin Asher believes will continue a winning tradition within the Aurora program.
Asher brings a championship pedigree to Aurora as well as a 453-212 career record with coaching stints in Wood River, Elm Creek, Norfolk Catholic, Millard West, Pender and most famously, Hastings St. Cecilia.
“St. Cecilia is similar to Aurora in a lot of ways,” Asher commented. “Very family-oriented school, tradition rich in a lot of sports. A hard-working community.”
Asher graduated from O’Neill St. Mary’s in 1985 where he was part of winning a state football championship in 1984 while also making state basketball twice.
From there, it was onto Kearney State College for five years as part of the Loper basketball program before hanging his sneakers up for the whistle and clipboard.
