In a game that looked as if the offenses would never quit scoring, it was Hampton’s stout defensive effort in the second half that delivered Carson Klute his first win as the Head Hawk.
Hampton held St. Edward on two final drives late in the fourth quarter, the second of which came as the final ticks disappeared as the Hawks won 30-27 -- its first victory since Aug. 31, 2018.
Even while wearing his mask, it was hard not to see the jubilation on Klute’s face as he and the Hawks celebrated with Hawk Nation just behind them.
