Joel Miller, the agricultural education instructor at Hampton Public Schools, was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award by the Nebraska Agricultural Educators Association at the NAEA virtual awards ceremony June 10 as part of the Nebraska Career Education Conference.

The Outstanding Teacher Award recognizes NAEA members who conduct the highest quality agricultural education programs in the state. The award recognizes leadership in civic, community, agriculture/ agribusiness and professional activities. Award winners are nominated and selected by their peers.

Outstanding agricultural educators are innovators and catalysts for student success in agricultural education. Miller strives to provide numerous avenues within agriculture in hopes to guide students to a future career within the industry. Through classroom instruction, students are shown time and time again the importance of agriculture and the need for it. The hope is to develop a passion for our food, fiber, and natural resources that need caretakers in the years to come to help protect, promote, and preserve these valuable components of our society.

Miller highly encourages students to explore and try out different agricultural experiences to determine if it fits their wants and desires for the future. He also intends for his ag program to focus on providing opportunities for members of his chapter to develop strong leadership skills to help them in their future.

NAEA is a professional organization consisting of 200 agricultural education instructors from across the state with membership also in the National Association of Agricultural Educators.
