Fredric Gerald Hinrichs, son of Reent and Edith Henrichs, was born on October 16, 1936 at his home in Adams County. Fred graduated from Hastings High School in 1955. After graduating, he worked on the family farm until joining the Nebraska Army National Guard. He received many medals for expert level rifle skills and served as the cook for the men in his company.
Fred was united in marriage to Joyce Kothe on June 3, 1962 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Glenvil. Together they built a life on the family farm where they raised their four children, Clinton, Yvonne, Lyndell, and Andrea. In addition to farming and raising livestock, Fred provided a custom haying service for the surrounding communities. Fred thoroughly enjoyed time with his family and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. Fred loved all ‘the littles’ and spent countless hours taking them on tractors and ‘the mule’, handing out endless snacks and treats.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, of 64 years, Joyce, and their four children, Clinton (Becky) Hinrichs, Yvonne (Dan) Goodwin, Lyndell Hinrichs, and Andrea (Burrell) Hughes; ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Hinrichs; sister Jan Reeg; sisters-in-law, Jan Copple and Carol Kothe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Reent and Edith Hinrichs; sister, Rosalie Reeg; brothers-in-law, Keith Reeg, Duane Reeg, Terry Copple, and Cletus Kothe; one niece and two nephews.
Special thanks to those who cared for him and the family, including Grand Island Regional Medical Center and AseraCare Hospice.
