Perry Hosier puts Christmas spirit on wheels for Giltner
The Christmas spirit came on wheels to Giltner Monday night in the form of a specially decorated fire truck.
Local native and longtime fireman Perry Hosier admitted to himself that he’s been a bit of a scrooge the last couple of years, bypassing his traditional Christmas lighting routine. So this year, with a little extra time on his hands, he decided there was no time like the present to deliver a special holiday present to Giltner.

Hampton Hawks celebrate the end of semester in style
 close and classes wrap up, Hampton found a way to celebrate the challenges they’ve faced during the beginning of the school year. 
“We wanted to celebrate the kids getting through a full semester,” noted Brad Feik, high school principal and activities director. “Our kids have been really resilient so we wanted to celebrate that.”

Svoboda sets new career pinfall mark
More records were shattered on Aurora’s all-time list over the weekend. 
The Huskies got plenty of work in over the weekend, taking runner-up efforts in both the Platteview Invite Friday as well as the Boone Central Invite Saturday. 

Museum plays on catalog history for the holidays
The new temporary exhibit area at the Plainsman Museum in Aurora is no stranger to the holiday spirit, featuring a somewhat timely display of what one could have found in the Montgomery Ward and Sears and Roebuck catalogs in the early 1900s.
This comes just in time for the giving season, when local history buffs might be interested to know just what the people wanted in 1908 and 1927, what was popular to give and what kiddos might have been hoping to see under the tree.

Lady Hornets pick up first win in overtime thriller
It’s never easy for a young team to play over the hump and pick up that first victory. Giltner’s girls basketball team found that out at home last week. 
The Lady Hornets found themselves in an overtime brawl Dec. 15, when a solid start to the extra frame catapulted Giltner to its first win of the year, 39-34 over Nebraska Lutheran.
