This week's featured focus: National FFA Week

Body

ANR is celebrating National FFA Week with a special tribute to the young men and women who make up the Future Farmers of America Chapters in Hamilton County. In addition to profile stories on the student presidents of FFA chapters at the four local schools, you'll find photos of FFA members from around the area scattered throughout this week's paper in ads from local businesses saluting the work of FFA.

On our front page you'll find a profile of Emi Huls, serving this year as the president of the Aurora High School FFA Chapter. Huls said her interest in agriculture started with a love of horses. For online subscribers, her story can be found here.

Evan Pankoke, the president of the Hampton FFA chapter, headlines this week's Ag Life section on Page C1 and tells how growing up at a feedlot operation created an interest in pursuing a career in agriculture. Read about him here.

On Page C5 in our Ag Life section, is the story of Esperanza Lesiak, president of the High Plains Community Schools FFA. Lesiak explains that she also grew up with a love for horses and hopes to pursue a career in Animal Science. Her story can be found here.

A newcomer to this year's FFA Week Edition is Giltner Public Schools where a new FFA chapter was started just this school year. In his first year in the organization, senior Cooper Reason is serving as the chapter's first president and talks about the challenges and rewards of helping get the program off the ground. You'll find the profile on him here.
