Ridenour seeks change in GOP

Elkhorn man brings campaign for governor to Aurora

Breland Ridenour introduced himself to Hamilton County Thursday as a Republican candidate for governor, saying he felt compelled to enter the race as a conservative patriot who has no agenda but seeks to help what he views as a nation in decline.
A native of northeast Nebraska who has no previous political experience, Ridenour said he could have remained content working as an IT supervisor for an Omaha-based company, but decided instead in December of last year that he could be part of necessary change as Nebraska’s next governor.
“There’s been a decline in our country and it’s been going on for decades, decline in our government, decline in the type of people who are running it, who are getting elected, decline even in the Republican Party itself,” Ridenour told a group of Hamilton County Republicans gathered at the Aurora Senior Center. “We’ve seen a degradation from the values on which this country was founded.”
