Giltner residents echoed the statewide support for gambling initiatives in the Nov. 3 General Election, voting to approve keno in the community.
The Giltner Village Board had been asked to put the issue up to a vote, thus it was on the ballot with a simple majority decision to determine the outcome. By a vote of 187 for and 55 against, the initiative passed.
“We brought it up in open discussion and basically talked about how it passed,” board chairman Cody Nuss said of last week’s village board meeting. “We need to start looking at similar size towns to see what kind of revenue it brought in and then speak with a lawyer to see what kinds of things it can go to.”
