Phillips annual July 3 celebration a community event
Phillips’ annual July 3 celebration went off without a hitch, though it looked a little different than it has in past years.
With the meal provided by the Phillips Community Foundation, guests to the celebration had their choice of eating in the Phillips Memorial Hall -- with appropriate social distancing -- meals to go, or even delivery. With a selection of BBQ, hot dogs, chips, drinks and deserts, there was enough for everyone.
Rootbeer floats were another hit for community members on the hot and humid Friday afternoon. Those, sponsored and delivered by Jamie Bergmark and Troop 28, featured ice cold ice cream. Bergmark even dressed to impress while serving, sporting USA socks, a themed shirt, hat and mask.
Fireworks donations were picked up by the Phillips Ball program and were launched Friday night by the Phillips Fire and Rescue Department.
