Hundreds of children stomped the fields of the Pioneer Recreation Trail Saturday to get Easter eggs of the first hunt sponsored by Shelter Insurance.
Founders DJ Robertson and Eric Wright started the event with less than a month of preparations to put together a new Easter tradition in Aurora.
“(It’s) good anytime you can help a kid smile, have fun, have a good time, you get a chance to have an Easter egg hunt like this and help the parents out,” Wright said. “Their parents enjoy it too.”
Robertson had just joined the agency in November while talking with his fiance about ideas for community involvement.
“My biggest thing is I know that the agency has just kind of struggled having some turnaround with previous agents in the past,” he explained. “So, the biggest thing for me is I want to make sure I’m getting ingrained in the community and I want to do something that’s really bringing people together.”
