High winds ravage Hamilton County

Body

A wild weather event blew through Nebraska and Hamilton County Wednesday, bringing with it wind gusts near 90 miles per hour and leaving plenty of damage in its wake.

The first wave of storms came through around 2 p.m. as Hamilton County entered a tornado warning. As quickly as the storm came, it left.

The Robertshaw Insurance Agency building stood in tact after the afternoon winds, but when the wind later shifted directions the roof was blown from the building. Several trees around Aurora were uprooted, windows broken out of vehicles, power poles were damaged and a stadium light at Mitchell Field fell in centerfield.

As the high winds continued throughout the night, more damage was sustained throughout the county. Watch for more photos and details in this week's News-Register.
