Utility Supt. Chris Friesen reported that a Kearney consultant serving as the village engineer continues to review methods that may help find a solution for a water well that has been out of service since last spring due to high nitrate levels. The village has been operating with one good well since that time while research continues on possible alternatives.
“Chris Miller (with Miller & Associates) changed his mind on the well and he no longer thinks that by pulling the well and blocking the screen that we’re going to gain anything,” Friesen advised the board. “He wants us to test it my knocking it down to 200 gallons a minute and let it run for a few days, trying to buy some time while we try to figure out a solution.”
