Body

The Hampton School Board approved its 2021-22 budget Monday, a $5.48 million fiscal plan which includes a $95,596 increase in tax asking and a 1.7 percent increase in the tax levy.
Supt. Holly Herzberg presented a brief report on the district’s financial history during a budget hearing before Monday’s regular monthly meeting, neither of which drew any public comment.
For the coming fiscal year, Hampton Public Schools has a $5,481,931 operating budget. Tax asking increased $93,596 to $3,042,723 (4 percent) while the levy was set at 8.8 cents per $100 valuation. Property taxes on a home valued at $100,000 in the Hampton district will be $880, up from $866 a year ago.
Herzberg noted in her report that the levy has been adjusted in recent years, reflecting a downward trend in the district’s total valuation, though this year the valuation reversed that trend.
