Hampton village leaders voted Monday to renew a contract with Five Rule Rural Planning to continue efforts to clean up the community by addressing vacant and nuisance properties.
Five Rule owner Bobbi Pettit addressed the board during Monday’s regular monthly meeting, reporting what she viewed as progress during the past year, while also noting ongoing challenges with some of the properties in question.
The process began a year ago with Pettit and her staff assessing every property in Hampton, then identifying which ones were vacated and which ones potentially violated the village’s nuisance ordinance. After that initial assessment, seven parcels were placed on the vacant property registry and 21 were cited for various nuisance concerns.
