A public hearing is scheduled next week to review the village of Hampton’s blight study as the first step in a potential redevelopment effort focused on building additional housing.
The Hampton Village Board voted recently to hire Five Rule Rural Planning, a Kearney-based consulting firm, to conduct a blight and substandard study, which has now been completed. A public hearing on the study is scheduled before the Hamilton County Joint Planning Commission at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the 4-H Building on the Hamilton County Fairgrounds.
“This is the first step in helping the village identify land that could potentially be used to develop low-income housing,” board chairman James Parsley explained. “It is also part of the process in creating a Community Development Agency.”
