The Giltner school board passed a new mask mandate at its regular monthly meeting Wednesday after several comments from faculty and families as well as some tense conversations within the board.

The mandate requires all students, staff and faculty to wear masks at all times within the school building and passed with a 3-2 vote. Yes votes included Chris Waddle, Michael Wilson and Mykelin Watson with no votes from Ross Lyon and Justin Bendorf.

On Oct. 7, Giltner was forced to quarantine its entire grades 7-12 with possible COVID-19 exposure and multiple positive tests.
