Egg-citing hunts planned for Easter weekend
Easter Bunny set to attend area events
The Easter Bunny is hopping down the bunny trail with plans to attend Easter egg hunts all over Hamilton County this upcoming weekend. Several local organizations are planning hunts and other activities to celebrate Easter beginning on Saturday.
Ultimate Easter Egg Hunt
The second annual Ultimate Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Hamilton County Youth Center and Aurora 8th graders is set for Saturday from 1-3 p.m. on the courthouse lawn in Aurora.
Youth Center Executive Director Paul Johnson recounted the success of the first Ultimate Easter Egg Hunt last year.
“Last year’s hunt went really well,” Johnson said. “We had around 3,000 eggs and had over 150 people show up for it. There were a couple of squirrels who stole some eggs and hauled them up the trees.”
This year’s Aurora 8th graders will assist with putting candy inside all of the eggs for children to find.
“We couldn’t do it without them,” Johnson said. “This year we have 5,000 eggs full of candy and other little treats.”
He said the youth center has also placed “a couple of designed and 3D-printed donation eggs at some small businesses in town.”
Children from PreK through fifth grade will need to bring their own basket or sack to collect eggs. Families are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the chaos and laughter.
Messiah Lutheran Church Easter Egg Scramble
The first Easter egg hunt in Aurora will take place at Messiah Lutheran Church’s Easter Egg Scramble on Saturday at 10 a.m. Children in fifth grade or younger are invited to the church at 415 S 18th St., to look for eggs with a chance to participate in a drawing for prizes. The Easter Bunny will hop by during the event.
