What resulted in a split vote for the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners, the topic of COVID premium pay for county employees who worked during the height of the pandemic was back on the table Monday for discussion.
“I guess I’m just looking for some direction,” Commissioner Becky Richter began. “I prepared a plan in June and I reiterated it in December. We’ve talked about it briefly. I know there’s a lot of different feelings about it, but I feel like we need to decide if we’re going to move forward or if we’re not.”
Richter followed this up noting a point she wanted to make before further discussion.
“Some of the COVID-related funds that were received by the county were based on the hours that some of our public safety people put in,” she said. “That’s the COVID funds that we originally got. Correct me if I’m wrong, Scott, isn’t that correct? Because you put all those things together from public safety and some of those hours were sent in and that made us eligible for some COVID funds.”
