The majority of Monday’s Hamilton County Board of Commissioners meeting was centered around a public hearing and discussion on the Highway Department’s proposed 2023 One and Six year plan.
New Hamilton County Highway Supt. Jeremy Brandt was on hand to lead commissioners through the public hearing and update the group on past, current and future roads-related projects.
Up first was a presented list of 10 completed roads projects ranging from bridge replacements to road regrading and overlay.
The most expensive project on the completed list stands at $674,000. This was contracted work -- despite most on the list being completed via the county’s manpower -- and was reportedly finished on Aug. 16, 2021. The 2-inch mill and overlay was done on K Road from Road 13 to 18.
“I’d have to double check, but I believe those were all one-year projects,” Brandt noted. “So those have been taken off of the one and six plan moving forward. There are 10 projects there and over the last couple years that’s been about average, 10 projects a year.”
Quickly moving on to the 2023 proposed one and six, Brandt noted a few changes since printing the spreadsheet he provided to commissioners. Thanks in part to favorable weather, one additional project had been completed and another started.
