Body

The Aurora City Council took steps last week designed to accommodate future growth by approving a route to expand the sewer line system feeding into the city’s wastewater treatment plant.
City Administrator Rick Melcher explained that routing options to install a new interceptor sewer line have been discussed for years, but only recently did the city get the green light needed from all the property owners along a specific route, which prompted a full agenda at the March 23 meeting. By unanimous vote, council members approved the route, requiring a series of public hearings and resolutions, authorizing city officials to move forward and begin working with JEO Consulting on specific design plans.
“There are a lot of different routes we could run the sewer main, but first of all we want to do it in a way that will make our system run the most appropriate way, so it can be both physically and financially effective,” Melcher explained. “We appreciate all the property owners that we dealt with while looking into the placement of the sewer facility. They are really contributing to economic development here, too.”
