Aurora's I-80 off-ramp to be closed Thursday
State road crews plan work on both west- and east-bound exits
The west-bound I-80 exit ramp at Aurora’s 332 exchange will be closed briefly Thursday night while state road crews complete the first phase of a planned repair project.
Bob Nordhues, District 4 project coordinator with the Nebraska Department of Transportation, explained that milling work will be completed at the bottom of the off-ramp on the 150-200 foot area where traffic exits Interstate 80, beginning at approximately 8 p.m. The plan is to mill the surface and put down a later of asphalt in a process estimated to take approximately two to three hours.
If all goes as planned, Nordhues said the same process is planned for the east-bound off-ramp, though that work would not start until 1 or 2 a.m.
Message boards will be posted east and west of Aurora’s 332 exchange advising I-80 motorists of the temporary closure.
Nordhues noted that the second phase of the project, which involves installation of a new road surface, will be completed after the Fourth of July, at which times the off-ramps will be temporarily closed again.
