Socks are a daily used item that many people don’t think about, but the sorority of Delta Kappa Gamma worked to attain a grant to provide socks to students in Adams, Hall and Hamilton counties.
Vice-president of the sorority, Collen O’Neill shared that through the Esther Pilster grant there were able to purchase approximately 700 pairs of socks.
“About 150 pairs were donated to Hamilton County,” she said. “When purchasing these socks we went to Amazon and searched for socks that were sold in bulk. We made sure to purchase socks for every age group from newborns to adults.”
Their hope is that this project will help children and families who are in need and help make sure they have warm feet this winter.
“Also we want to spread the word about the worthy projects our chapter is involved in and encourage female educators from early childhood to adult educators to join our sorority,” she voiced.
They are especially looking for educators from Hamilton County to make sure it is equally represented when choosing projects.
Past projects have included distribution of mittens, gloves, hats and socks; Stuff the Buss participation and distribution of items to women and children’s shelters.
