Funerals deserve police presence
Dear Editor:
I recently attended a funeral in Aurora. I was very displeased and disheartened to find out that the local law enforcement no longer leads the funeral processions to the cemetery.
This is a respectful tradition that has been carried on for decades everywhere and I think it is a disgrace that it is not being done in Aurora.
There is absolutely no reason or excuse that this service is not being carried on here. It’s not only showing respect and dignity to the family, but also to keep everyone safe and to keep the procession flowing together.
What a huge disservice to our community and I am really disappointed in our law enforcement. I am sure that others who attend services who are from out of town think that it’s very disrespectful as well, and I am sure that leaves a really bad impression to them of our community, which is really sad.
